Job Summary The Academic Coordinator will provide critical support for projects and tasks involving course content modifications, accessibility requirements, and related instructional design activities. This hybrid/flexible role offers the opportunity to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, driving success in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and The Institute for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Disease. Key Responsibilities Assist with implementing newly created and existing course materials for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses, ensuring alignment with best practices and recognized rubrics. Analyze and update existing online content, preparing and updating Blackboard Learn course shells each semester. Create written instructions or video tutorials to support teaching tasks, promoting effective online instruction and accessibility initiatives. Support the maintenance of the Microbiology and Immunology Student Center, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students. Fulfill other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to teamwork. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or a related field, or a minimum of one year of experience in a related field. Experience as an educator, such as a teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, or other type of instructor. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to perform work under tight deadlines. Characteristics needed to work independently, such as resourcefulness, initiative, time management, problem-solving, and dependability, while functioning as part of the team. Preferred Qualifications To enhance your application, you will ideally have: Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and related applications, with experience in course authoring tools such as Camtasia and Articulate. Multimedia experience, including desktop video, screencasts, and infographics. Knowledge of synchronous meeting applications such as Zoom, Webex, or Collaborate. Web design and graphics skills set, with the ability to create engaging and accessible content.
