Entry-Level Structural Engineer

Position Overview Participate in delivering local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects. Tasks may include research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. Generate accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Key Responsibilities • Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. • Perform basic professional structural engineering work relating to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. • Provide entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements and operating strategies to ensure the safety and functionality for end-users, systems, and infrastructure. • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance in securing structural soundness against loads and pressures from environmental or human influences. • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and work site logs. • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures, including location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies, surveys, and construction requirements. • Complete training on assigned tasks. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct and related policies. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Skills and Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline. • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience. • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset. • Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build. • Understanding of structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. • Competent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with both engineering and non-engineering audiences. • Proficient self-leadership with strong attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment. • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team to meet business objectives. • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, and related tools. • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS). • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek based on project-specific requirements. • Willingness to travel occasionally as required by project needs.
