As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale database systems that support our critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain large-scale database systems, including relational databases and NoSQL databases Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy innovative solutions that meet business needs Participate in the development of database architecture and strategy, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance Work with various stakeholders to identify and prioritize database requirements, and develop solutions to meet those needs Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including performance optimization and data consistency Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, data models, and database designs Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply that knowledge to improve database systems and processes Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 1-2 years of experience in database engineering, or equivalent experience Strong foundation in database design, data modeling, and data governance Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python, Perl, and Shell scripting Experience with relational databases, including MySQL and Postgres Experience with cloud-based technologies, including AWS and Azure Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop effective solutions Preferred Qualifications Experience with NoSQL databases, including CockroachDB and MongoDB Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes Experience with DevOps tools, including Ansible and Terraform Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing Experience with data replication and high availability solutions Skills and Competencies Strong technical skills, including proficiency in one or more programming languages and experience with database systems Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop effective solutions Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Apple, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their skills.
