Job Purpose: The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for maintaining the performance, security, and availability of Microsoft SQL Server environments. This includes database installation, configuration, monitoring, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and enforcing access control policies. The DBA will play a key role in ensuring high availability, supporting disaster recovery planning, and collaborating with development and IT teams to support evolving business needs. Key Responsibilities • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server database instances. • Optimize database performance through query tuning and index management. • Implement and enforce database security measures including user roles and access policies. • Design and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and protection. • Monitor database health and availability; troubleshoot and resolve issues proactively. • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations and operational procedures. • Support development teams in designing and implementing new databases and schema. • Configure and manage high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering. • Perform capacity planning by analyzing database growth and performance trends. • Automate routine database tasks using scripts and tools. • Apply patches and updates to maintain system reliability and security. • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry regulations through regular audits. • Generate insightful reports on database performance, usage trends, and health metrics. Required Skills & Experience • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with SQL Server 2016 or newer versions. • Proven expertise in implementing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies. • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) in SQL Server. • At least 2 years of experience in documenting system configurations and processes. • Proficient in writing T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and performance optimization techniques. • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for routine database tasks. • Experience in compliance auditing and enforcing database security policies. • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to database maintenance.
