Customs & FDA Compliance Advisor — UPS Air - Imports (Food / Coffee)
Description I’m looking for a trade compliance advisor with experience working with UPS-cleared imports. I run a small coffee business importing roasted coffee into the U.S. via UPS air. Shipments are small and recurring. Most clear smoothly, but some are delayed or trigger fees. I want to reduce this inconsistency by making sure the process, documents, and UPS setup are correct. This is an advisory role focused on improving reliability and avoiding preventable issues. Light execution support may be considered if helpful. ⸻ Goals • Ensure customs and FDA compliance • Eliminate missing, unclear, or inconsistent documentation • Reduce delays, clearance exceptions, and avoidable fees • Improve coordination with UPS clearance workflows • Establish a simple, repeatable import process at small scale ⸻ What I Need Help With • Review and tighten commercial invoices • Confirm HS/HTS classification and product descriptions • Validate FDA Prior Notice setup and consistency • Review UPS shipment configuration and data handoff • Identify why some shipments fail or trigger fees and how to prevent it ⸻ Current Setup • Product: Finished, packaged roasted coffee • Shipment size: ~10–20 lbs • Frequency: Recurring • Carrier: UPS air • FDA Prior Notice: Filed internally ⸻ Who This Is For This role is a good fit if you: • Have experience clearing imports through UPS • Have a background in trade compliance, customs, or courier clearance • Have worked with FDA-regulated food products • Support small businesses or early-stage importers • Prefer advisory work over heavy brokerage models ⸻ Engagement Details • Initial scope: 1–3 hours • Format: Call + document review • Compensation: Hourly (please include rate) ⸻ To Apply Please briefly include: 1.
