Copyeditor for High-Content Non-Fiction Project

Remote Full-time
I’m looking for an experienced copy editor to review and refine the writing style, clarity, and consistency of a nonfiction book about Behavioral Science for Product Managers. The full book is titled: “101 Behavioral Insights for Product Managers | Proven Psychology to Influence Buying, Pricing, and Product Decisions.” It contains 101 short, practical chapters designed to teach readers how to apply behavioral science to real business situations — improving communication, pricing, and decision-making. Your first task will be a paid sample edit of ~900 words (1 chapter). If the collaboration works well, this will expand into a full-book editing project. What You’ll Do - Review a sample chapter for: - Clarity, readability, and tone -Flow and pacing between sections - Grammar, syntax, and consistency - Suggest improvements that make the text more engaging and easy to follow - Ensure the content feels natural and accessible to non-academic readers - Maintain a professional yet conversational tone that appeals to Product Managers and general business readers What I’m Looking For: Must-Have Skills: - Strong experience in copy editing nonfiction books - Excellent command of English writing and grammar - Proven ability to make text clear, concise, and engaging - Attention to detail and consistency across chapters - Ability to give constructive editorial feedback Nice-to-Have Skills: - Familiarity with Behavioral Science, Psychology, or Business writing - Experience editing self-published or KDP books - Understanding of how to keep readers engaged with applied insights - Comfortable suggesting light structural improvements if needed Ideal Candidate: You’re someone who enjoys refining ideas so they connect with readers — not just correcting grammar, but improving flow, tone, and comprehension. You understand that: “Knowledge alone doesn’t change behavior; readers need to be guided to apply it.” and “People are more open to ideas that feel like they come from within their own group.” Your editing should help make the book feel relatable, practical, and easy to apply in everyday work. Project Scope: - Initial task: Edit one chapter (~900 words) - Goal: Evaluate clarity, engagement, and structure - Deliverable: Tracked-changes document + short feedback summary Apply tot his job
