Conservation Officer for West Africa
Conservation Allies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Conservation Officer (CO) to build capacity and conservation actions across West and Central Africa by: • Identifying and supporting dedicated conservation NGOs who are engaged with Protected Areas in need of assistance (e.g., parks facing challenges) that are IUCN Members. • Assisting each partner to build their communications capacity and enhance their fundraising efforts. • Helping develop, support, and oversee specific Protected Area projects with each partner. Location: • Working and living remotely anywhere across West and Central Africa. Qualifications and Experiences Requested: • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Conservation, or other relevant fields. Master’s or doctorate degree is a bonus. • Required Experience: • 5+ years of related conservation and/or protected area management experience. • Examples of positive impacts and reducing deforestation for PAs. • Strong writing and communication skills. • Fluency in English is required. • Strong French language skills are a bonus. • Skills (a bonus but not essential): • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments. • Proficiency in the use of drones for environmental monitoring. • Experience with Global Forest Watch. • Passion for conservation and environmental issues in West and Central Africa. Compensation: Salary is competitive and will commensurate with experience. In addition to the monthly salary, per diem and travel expenses will be covered while in the field.
