Associate Professional Application Programmer
DXC Technology helps global companies run their mission-critical systems and operations while modernizing IT. They are seeking an entry-level programmer to develop, test, and maintain software applications while providing technical support to end-users, with opportunities to work with mainframe systems and COBOL. Responsibilities Design & Development: Analyze user needs, translate requirements into technical specs, and develop robust, scalable applications, including backend services and APIs Coding & Best Practices: Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code, adhering to object-oriented principles and industry standards Testing & Debugging: Conduct software analysis, implement unit/integration tests (JUnit, TestNG), and troubleshoot/resolve bugs to ensure quality Maintenance & Optimization: Support existing applications, optimize performance, manage codebases, and contribute to continuous improvement Full Lifecycle Contribution: Participate in all phases, from concept to deployment and support Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (UX/UI, QA, DevOps, Product Managers and Legacy COBOL developers) in both Waterfall and Agile environments Technical Skills: Develop microservices, manage databases (SQL/NoSQL), and use deployment tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud platforms like AWS) Documentation: Create detailed design documents and user guides Skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience One plus years of programming experience Experience or interest in working with mainframes using Java, COBOL and/or SAS applications Experience or interest in working with relational databases to facilitate programming software Programming skills Basic testing skills Personal computer and business solutions software skills Analytical and problem-solving skills for the design, creation, and testing of programs Communication skills to interact with team members and support personnel Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members Ability to work in a team environment Must be ITAR-compliant and able to provide proof of citizenship Must be a legal US Citizen on US Soil.
