Job Summary As an Assistant Terminal Manager at Saia LTL Freight, you will play a critical role in directing and coordinating the activities of terminal employees to provide cost-effective, timely, and quality service to our customers. Under the general supervision of the Terminal Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring production goals are met, coordinating staffing levels and employee training, and enforcing compliance with company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Production Goals: Ensure production goals of dock/city bills per hour and on-time service are at or above company-established goals. Staffing and Training: Coordinate staffing levels and employee training to provide maximum productivity. Compliance: Enforce compliance with all company policies and procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations. Employee Relations: Facilitate good employee relations through motivation, feedback, and coaching. Terminal Operations: Assist in the management of terminal operations, including load planning, dispatch, and customer service. Performance Management: Participate in performance management activities, including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 2+ years of freight terminal operations supervisory experience Bachelor's degree Knowledge of AS400 Knowledge of Microsoft Office Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as necessary Preferred Qualifications We prefer candidates with: Freight industry experience Safety management experience Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need: Strong leadership and management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Saia LTL Freight, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
