About the position This role is responsible for providing professional, comprehensive support and maintenance services for telecommunications hardware, network equipment, and related infrastructure at designated sites. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnostics, equipment installation, change management, and various remote assistance services to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the equipment. For all responsibilities there is a playbook that is to be followed in accordance with the end customers environment. The role is not a direct manager role but will coordinate 3rd party activities at times. Responsibilities • Coordinate arrival of personnel and delivery of spares. • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting with technical contacts. • Conduct on-site technician activities such as power cycling, securing cable connections, and replacing hardware components. • Receive and Review change requests initiated by either client or NTT governance. • Oversee and at times perform telecommunications testing services including Bit Error Rate (BER), Optical Spectrum Analysis (OSA), Ethernet testing, and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) shots. • Commission hardware and perform software provisioning. • Place cross-connects and cabling as required. • Oversee and at times perform equipment swaps within the chassis of the equipment. • Review provided Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and installation documentation. • Conduct inventory, labeling, and installation of equipment. • Support shipping and receiving of equipment. • Handle Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) and related paperwork. • Oversee and at times perform site surveys, inspections, and audits to ensure suitability for the equipment. • Oversee and at times perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning, touch-up painting, and minor mechanical repairs. • Meet with third-party personnel to coordinate services and actions. • Provide additional on-site technical support and remote hands services as required. • Escort third-party vendor personnel into and out of the site. • Interacts with client on site and remote to meet complex requirements of a solution. • Escalates unresolved problems and issues to the relevant third parties. • Responds to escalated client requests. • Writes reports, completes and maintains project documentation. • Assists with the documentation of standard operating procedures relating to installations and fixes. • Expected to take ownership of relevant technologies according to domain or specialization. • Performs any other related task as required. Requirements • 5-8 years' experience in data center operations. • Extensive subject matter and services expertise within data center operations. • Proven project management experience with large, complex and global clients preferred. • Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, the capacity to work effectively in a team environment, and maintaining a high level of professionalism in all activities are a must. • ITIL, BICSI, CCNA, and/or data center operations specific certifications preferred.
