Advisor-Driver

POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide expertise and support to Drivers as an integral member of the Operations and Safety teams. Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services to include education, coordination and analysis needed to ensure safe and timely movement of shipments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Build positive relationships with Drivers by facilitating regular driving feedback meetings, listening to and analyzing driving related concerns and providing explanations and/or solutions Educate, develop and motivate Drivers in collaboration with applicable local operations Assist operations leadership with the development and targeted implementation of driving related employee survey action plans; promote proactive and positive best practices to increase consistent improvement in Driver engagement level Assess and coach Drivers’ performance to ensure accountability for improvement in accordance with applicable policies and procedures in collaboration with applicable local operations Assist Operations and Safety leadership by conducting driver rides to support the Safety Above All Culture, as needed Counsel with and provide guidance to employees regarding their actions and practices to ensure compliance of company policies, (with special emphasis on the Driver Manual), rules and all applicable state and federal regulations/laws Collaborate with business partners in analyzing and coordinating the bid process, vacation bidding and transfers Facilitate new hire orientation, specifically including use of technology required (e.g. dock and forklift computers, handheld device, etc.) in collaboration with applicable local operations Collaborate with Learning & Development to ensure necessary educational tools are available and utilized Work in partnership with functional groups with matters related to Driver personnel Assist Service Center leadership and support business partners with the analysis and development of routes, bids and staffing levels Support events such as state and national truck driving championships Support new and reassigned equipment education, safety and feedback Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ operations, transportation/logistics or warehouse/distribution experience • CDL driving experience • Prior LTL experience preferred • Leadership experience working with CDL drivers preferred • Driver training experience preferred • Must be able to perform multiple tasks while positively motivating, coaching and communicating clear information (e.g., instructions, policies, procedures) to others • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Working knowledge of technology required for the Driver positions, e.g., timekeeping, on-road productivity system, etc. • Thorough knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA and Hazardous Materials Regulations • Must possess excellent organizational skills • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office WORKING CONDITIONS: • Fast-paced, deadline oriented environment • Work in a non-climate controlled dock environment • Exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise • Must be able to travel as needed • Required to walk or otherwise safely navigate and to be accessible to all areas of the dock, office, tractors, trailers and yard • May require driving during day and night on all types of roads and in all types of weather • Work schedules may vary due to operational need up to and including weekend and night schedules Preferred Qualifications: Pay Transparency: Pay: Additional Details: FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans. • Know Your Rights • Pay Transparency If you have a disability and you need assistance in order to apply for a position with FedEx Freight, please call 800-888-8252 or e-mail at [email protected].
